Buying a BambooSIM travel eSIM: coverage, activation, payment and refunds
BambooSIM is a seller of prepaid travel eSIMs. Instead of a parcel you get a digital SIM that you install on your phone, so the questions that matter are where the plans work, how you pay, how activation goes and when you can get money back. This guide goes through the BambooSIM site and its terms of service. BambooSIM Pty. Ltd. is the company behind it, and the terms are governed by the law of the State of Victoria, Australia.
Where the plans work
The shop offers plans for more than 200 destinations. You search by destination, and single-country plans sit next to multi-country ones such as Europe, Asia Pacific and North America. Plans depend on the local roaming networks, and the terms say that speed and coverage cannot be guaranteed. Because of this, compare the plan details for your destination before you pay.
How ordering and activation work
There is no delivery time as such. The site describes four steps: check that your device is compatible, select a plan, download the eSIM and switch it on at your destination. Once payment is received, the eSIM should be ready within seconds. You install it automatically from the download or by scanning the QR code that BambooSIM sends. When you arrive and connect to a network, the plan activates automatically. Installing it the day before your flight is a common way to avoid last-minute trouble.
Compatibility is the one real hurdle. Your phone has to support eSIM and must not be locked to a carrier. According to the support centre, the iPhone X is not compatible, and the Apple Watch does not work with these eSIMs. Check the exact model and country of purchase, since similar models can differ.
Payment and currency
You can pay by debit or credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or PayPal; the site footer also shows Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Venmo. The site says local currencies are supported. The terms add that payments in currencies other than AUD may involve foreign exchange fees, and that you are responsible for any extra fee from your bank or payment provider. All payments are made in advance. Plans that renew automatically charge your payment method unless you cancel beforehand.

Refunds
The terms state that eligible fixed-data eSIMs may generally be considered for a refund when no data has been used and the request comes within 30 days of purchase. It is preferable that the eSIM has not been installed, although installation alone does not automatically rule out a review. Other eSIM products are strictly non-refundable, duplicate orders included, because the telco partner charges BambooSIM in full when the order is placed. Support can ask the telco partner for an exceptional review, but approval is not guaranteed. Unused data cannot be carried over or refunded unless the shop says otherwise. Check the plan type before you buy.
Support
The support centre offers articles on installation, technical problems, billing and payments, and account help. You can open a live chat, email the team or submit a ticket for account-specific questions. The shop advertises 24/7 support.
Using cashback
Open the BambooSIM page at daily cashback and press the shop button. The current rate (up to 5%) is shown there with the offers we check each day. Then buy as usual. In your free account the cashback shows as open and becomes confirmed after BambooSIM has reported the order. If an order is refunded, the cashback for it is deducted, and a code from another site can cost you the cashback.
