Booking with Hotel.info: payment, cancellation and cashback

· 2026-09-23

Hotel.info is a hotel booking portal run by HRS in Cologne. There is no parcel and no shipping here, so the questions are different: who is your contract with, how does payment work, and how late can you still cancel. We read the payment page, the terms and conditions and the English start page on hotel.info in October 2026. Cancellation rules depend on the hotel and the rate you pick, so always read the conditions shown before you confirm.

What Hotel.info actually does

According to the terms, HRS only brokers the booking. The accommodation contract is concluded directly between you and the hotel, and HRS does not provide the stay itself. The same operator also runs hotel.de and hrs.com. The start page promises a choice of 300,000 hotels worldwide, more than 2 million guest ratings, automatic rebooking if the price drops, and miles and points with every booking. Hotel descriptions come from the hotels themselves.

Prices and currencies

Unless stated otherwise, the price is per room and per night, with or without breakfast depending on the rate. The hotel has to show the final price including taxes. If you pick a currency that differs from the hotel's own, the list shows prices in your currency for orientation only. The local currency in the price conditions is binding, so exchange rate differences can occur. When prices change between the list and the detail page, the final price before the booking is what counts.

How payment works

Many hotels now allow paying directly while booking. Hotel.info lists credit cards, Google Pay and Apple Pay and says more options will follow. It acts as a payment gateway, so your card data is not passed on to the hotel. For some bookings, especially special prices, a full or partial advance payment is required, and the exact terms are shown before you book. Hotel.info can charge a transaction fee for paying online, which is displayed during the booking. After check-out you get the invoice as a PDF by email within 24 hours.

Cancelling and changing a booking

The cancellation terms come from the hotel and the rate. Many hotels offer free cancellation until 6 PM on the day of arrival for flexible rates, but special prices and very short-notice bookings often exclude it. Changes and cancellations are best made in your account under My Bookings, or by phone on +49 221 2077 600. Written notices go to [email protected] or [email protected], at least 24 hours before the hotel's own deadline. If a valid cancellation was already paid, Hotel.info starts the refund right away, and your bank may need 5 to 10 days to show it.

If a hotel requires it, the booking lapses at 18:00 local time on the day of arrival unless it is guaranteed with a credit card. A debit does not happen at booking. Online you can book a maximum of nine rooms, larger groups use the group booking route.

Using cashback

Open the Hotel.info page page at daily cashback, where the current rate (up to 3%) and the offers we found are listed with the date we last checked them. Press the shop button there, then order as you normally would. In your free account the cashback first shows as open and becomes confirmed once Hotel.info has reported the order. A returned item reduces the amount for that item.

A few practical tips

  • Read the cancellation line of the rate before you confirm, the cheapest one is often not flexible.
  • Check the booking currency if you book a hotel abroad, the hotel's own currency applies.
  • Keep the booking confirmation email, it contains the payment details.
  • Finish the booking in one visit and pause your ad blocker so the click is not lost.
