Missing Cashback: What to Do
You bought something through a cashback link and your account shows nothing. Before you worry, it helps to know that a missing order is often just a matter of time, and that a clear report speeds up the cases that are not. This guide shows what to check, what to collect and how the process works.
Step 1: Wait the normal time
Shops report orders to the cashback system with a delay. Many orders appear as pending within a few hours, some within a few days. Travel bookings and orders from smaller shops can take longer. If your purchase is only a day or two old, wait a little before you do anything else.
Step 2: Check your own side
- Did you start from the shop page on daily cashback and press the shop button?
- Did you stay in the same browser session until the order was paid?
- Was an ad blocker active, or did you use a private window with cookies blocked?
- Did you click through another cashback or coupon site afterwards?
- Did you use a code that may exclude cashback?
If one of these applies, the order may never have been linked to you. You can still send a report, but chances are lower. Our guide on why cashback gets declined explains each case.
Step 3: Collect the proof
A report is easy to check when it has the facts. Gather these before you contact us:
- Shop name and the date and time of the order.
- The order number from the confirmation email.
- The amount you paid, with the currency.
- A copy of the confirmation email or a screenshot of the order page.
- The browser you used and whether an ad blocker was on.
Step 4: Report it
Send the report through the contact route given in our terms of use, after the waiting time for that shop has passed. We forward it to the shop or the network, which compares the click from your session with the order. Every report is looked at by a person. This takes time because the shop has to search in its own system, so a reply can take several weeks.
How long to wait before reporting
Allow at least a few days for the order to appear as pending. If it is still absent after that, report it. Late bookings can still be credited: orders may be added up to 180 days after the purchase, which is why we do not close a case early. After 180 days the chances are slim, so do not leave it that long.
What if the amount is lower than expected
Check whether items were returned, whether the shop excludes taxes, shipping or certain products, and whether a discount reduced the base amount. The shop page has notes on exclusions where we know them. This example is only an illustration: on an order of 100 USD with 15 USD shipping and tax, the cashback may be calculated on just the goods, so the base can be well below the amount on your card statement.
What not to do
- Do not buy the same item again hoping the second order is tracked.
- Do not cancel the order at the shop to start over unless you are asked to.
- Do not delete the confirmation email.
Prevent the next case
Most missing orders could be avoided. Open the shop through our page, pause blockers for the shop, stay in one session and keep other cashback sites closed. We check shop information every day and write down what we know about conditions on the shop page, so read it before paying. Cashback is credited after the shop confirms, and payouts start at 20 USD by PayPal.
