TUI Cars vs Sunny Cars: Which Fits You, and Where Is Cashback Paid?

TUI Cars vs Sunny Cars: for a hire car with cashback, book through TUI Cars, the one of the two with a page at daily cashback. Sunny Cars is not one of our shops, so a rental there pays nothing from us. Rates swing with destination and car group, so this guide covers the route to cashback and the rules for cancelling. Status October 2026.

Booking a rental car: the steps

  1. Open the TUI Cars shop page (German-language page) and read the cashback line, which applies to all eligible bookings.
  2. Turn off the ad blocker, close other comparison and voucher tabs and press the button. TUI Cars opens in a new window.
  3. Choose your car and read what the price contains, which deposit applies and what you pay at the desk.
  4. Book and pay. Your price is the same as without us, and the booking shows in your free account as pending.
  5. Collect the car and return it. TUI Cars checks the booking after your rental.
  6. Once it is confirmed, the cashback becomes payable under the terms of the offer.

Keep your TUI Cars voucher and confirmation. You need the voucher at the station anyway, and it also serves as your proof if an entry is missing in your account.

When the cashback lapses

  • You cancel a car: TUI Cars allows free cancelling or rebooking up to 24 hours before pick-up. A cancelled rental is not a completed one and earns nothing.
  • Motorbikes: the partner EagleRider has its own staged fees, so read them before you book a bike.
  • You cannot pick the car up: most countries ask for the deposit on a credit card of the driver, and prepaid cards are not accepted at the counter.
  • You booked on Sunny Cars: the rental never passed through our TUI Cars button.
  • A detour or an ad blocker: a click through a voucher site after our page, or a blocked click, can stop the pending entry from appearing.
  • Rebooking elsewhere: if you cancel and book again, start again from the shop page, or the new booking has no link to us.

What the rate is based on

According to the shop page, the basis is what the completed booking is worth, with taxes, local tourism levies, resort charges and cancelled stays left out. The current rate sits on the page, and we do not repeat it here. TUI Cars brokers cars and motorbikes from several rental firms, and the page names Hanover as its base and the TUI group as its parent.

What you pay on site for a child seat, a young-driver charge or a one-way rental is settled with the local rental firm, so keep it apart from your online booking when you think about cashback. Insurance details and the deposit amount are in the terms of the rental firm next to each car.

One more detail concerns damage. At TUI Cars the rental firm keeps the deposit first and TUI Cars reimburses the excess afterwards. That repayment comes from TUI Cars and has nothing to do with your cashback, which is based on the completed booking. Do not mix the two when you check your account.

TUI Cars or Sunny Cars: the differences

  • TUI Cars states that comprehensive cover without excess and liability cover are in the price, that mileage is normally unlimited and that airport charges and local taxes are included. At some partners around the Mediterranean the second driver is free.
  • Sunny Cars offers its own all-round package and add-ons such as online check-in, second driver, hotel delivery and, in selected countries, a no-deposit service for Spain, Italy, Greece, Croatia, Portugal and others.
  • Cancelling: TUI Cars is free until 24 hours before pick-up, by a link on its site or by phone and email. Sunny Cars is free until one hour before the start, but only via a travel agency, over the phone or inside your account, never at the local partner.
  • Payment: TUI Cars takes cards, PayPal and direct debit. Sunny Cars takes invoice, direct debit, cards and PayPal, with the payment due two weeks before the rental starts.
  • Our pick for cashback is TUI Cars. Sunny Cars has the later cancellation deadline, but carries no cashback from us.
