Booking Trasmed ferries: routes, payment, changes and cashback
Trasmed is a ferry company of the Grimaldi Group that sells passenger and vehicle tickets on its own website. Nothing is posted to you, so instead of shipping the points that count are which routes and countries the ferries connect, how you pay, how booking changes work and what happens if you cannot travel.
Routes and countries
Trasmed connects Barcelona and Valencia with the Balearic Islands: Mallorca (Palma and Alcudia), Menorca (Mahon and Ciutadella), Ibiza and Formentera. There are also routes between Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza, and from Barcelona to Porto Torres in Sardinia and to Civitavecchia near Rome in Italy. So the ferries cover Spain and Italy. The site is available in Spanish, English, French and Catalan, and the Spanish contact details are the ones to use for questions.
Paying and currency
All bookings are paid in euros, including the mandatory taxes and duties, and any bank charges are yours. The terms list bank cards (Visa and MasterCard), Amazon Pay and Bizum as payment methods. Cards are checked with the 3D Secure protocol, so keep your phone close when you pay. After you confirm, the shop sends a booking confirmation to the email address you entered. Check that address twice, because the shop is not responsible for confirmations lost through a typing error.
| Point | What the shop says |
|---|---|
| Currency | Euros |
| Payment | Visa, MasterCard, Amazon Pay, Bizum |
| Online check-in | From 7 days before departure |
| Open return | Valid for 1 year from the outbound trip |
| Withdrawal right | None for these tickets, see the terms |
Changing a booking and open tickets
After booking you can add extra services through your account, as long as you have not checked in and generated the boarding passes. The FAQ has a section on cancelling and modifying a booking, including dates, routes, passenger names and vehicles. For the exact conditions of your fare, read that section before you pay. With an open return ticket you choose the return date later, within one year of the outbound trip, by phone, email or at a port ticket office. The terms add that once an open return ticket has been turned into a closed ticket with a fixed return date, cancelling that ticket carries no penalty.
Check-in and boarding
Every passenger, including infants and pets, needs a personal boarding pass. Online check-in opens 7 days before departure, and you can print the pass or keep it on your phone. Passes can also be collected at port ticket offices or self-check-in machines from the same moment. Some cases need the ticket office on the day of departure, for example trips operated by other companies or subsidised fares without documents on file. Pregnant passengers sign an information document at the port window, and children under 14 cannot travel alone.
Withdrawal and refunds
The general conditions state that there is no legal right of withdrawal for purchases of this kind, because the contract provides for a specific date of travel. If the shop cancels a booking, the conditions treat that separately. Ask customer service on 96 091 33 16 or at [email protected] about your specific case.
Cashback on your booking
Open the Trasmed page at daily cashback, where the current rate (2%) and the offers are listed. Press the shop button and book as usual. In your free account the cashback first shows as open and becomes confirmed once Trasmed has reported the booking. If a booking is cancelled or refunded, the cashback for it is deducted.
Handy to know
- Resident discounts need your DNI or NIE during booking, so have the document at hand.
- Order in one browser session with the ad blocker paused, so the click is tracked.
- Keep other voucher or cashback tabs closed while you book.
