Shopping at Adagio Teas: shipping abroad, returns and cashback
Adagio Teas is a US tea company that sells loose-leaf and bagged tea, teaware, gift sets and custom blends from its own website. It ships well beyond the United States, so a customer in Europe or Asia can order directly. Here is what the shop says about delivery costs, delivery times abroad, returns and payment.
Shipping inside the United States
Most orders pay a flat shipping fee of $3.75, and orders of $49 or more ship free to physical addresses in the contiguous United States. Free shipping uses an Economy service, where the carrier hands the parcel to the local post office for the last mile. Faster UPS or FedEx Ground shipping costs $5.75, $7.75 or $9.75 depending on your zip code and needs a $49 order. Express options are priced by weight and distance. Rural zip codes add a $2.00 shipping surcharge, and remote ones go by USPS for $9.75. Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and military addresses ship by Priority Mail for $9.75 per order. Orders placed before 3 pm EST on a weekday leave the same day.
Delivery to other countries
Shipments outside the United States travel with an international carrier and are delivered by your local postal service. The shipping page names 7 to 20 business days, while the FAQ speaks of two to four weeks, and both warn that holidays can add time. The cost is calculated in the cart from weight and distance, so pick your country in the drop-down on the shipping page to see it for your basket. The list covers many countries, among them:
- Europe: Germany, Austria, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Poland
- Americas: Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Colombia
- Asia and Pacific: Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Australia and Thailand
- Middle East and Africa: United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and South Africa
Canada has its own rule: free shipping from $49, otherwise $9.75, with delivery in 3 to 8 days. For all destinations outside the US the shop warns that taxes, tariffs or duties may be due on delivery, and your local post office holds a parcel if no one answers the door.
Local sites for the UK and Europe
Adagio also runs a separate UK website, priced in euros or pounds and shipping from London, and a notice on the site says an EU webshop is open. The US shop points out that US and UK accounts and orders cannot be combined, and that the UK range is smaller. A US-only product ordered from the UK side travels by DHL, generally in two to three weeks.
Returns and payment
| Topic | What the shop says |
|---|---|
| Return window | 30 days from purchase, in original packaging |
| Return label | $6.99 shipping label, or use your own carrier |
| Opened tea | A 35% disposal fee applies to opened tea that cannot be resold, because the shop must dispose of returned food items |
| Not returnable | Samplers, portions, custom blends |
| Payment | Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Amex, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay |
You start a return from your account page, and unauthorised returns are not processed. You choose a refund to your original payment method, a gift certificate or a replacement of the same item. Refunds can take up to three business days. Damaged or wrong items are replaced if you send the order number and photos. Checks and money orders are not accepted.
Cashback at Adagio
The Adagio page at daily cashback shows the current rate (2.5%) and the offers with the date of the last check. Press the shop button, then order as usual. In your free account the cashback is first open and becomes confirmed once Adagio has reported the order. A returned item reduces the amount for that item.
Practical tips
- Try a sample size before buying a large bag, because the shop charges a 35% disposal fee on opened tea that you send in, and samplers cannot be returned at all.
- Outside the US, check the cart total with shipping and possible import duties before you pay.
- Finish in one visit and pause your ad blocker, so the click is not lost.
