Ultra throws in Incogni, which approaches data brokers on your behalf and requests removal of your personal details. Each plan has terms from one month upward, and the long terms come with a discount against the monthly price.
CyberGhost sells by term: 1 month, 6 months and 2 years with a few free months on top. According to the maker, all plans include servers in more than 100 countries, unlimited bandwidth, split tunnelling, an automatic kill switch and round-the-clock support by chat and email. A dedicated IP and a security suite for Windows can be added. CyberGhost adds a password manager free of charge at checkout.
Refund window and renewal
CyberGhost leads here: 45 days on the 6-month and 2-year plans, 14 days on the monthly plan. NordVPN names 30 days for each plan. The difference matters most if you want to test the service before a trip or a move.
Both vendors price the period after the first term anew. At NordVPN the yearly renewal price sits right at the plan, and at CyberGhost the two-year plan renews every year by itself, as the pricing page states. Note the date of the first renewal before you order.
Comparing prices properly
Do not compare prices on the monthly figure alone. Look at how long the first term is, what falls due per year afterwards and whether VAT is added. Work out two versions: the cost over two years including the renewal, and the cost when paying month by month. That shows whether the long commitment pays off for you.
