Booking with Holidu: payment, cancellation and refunds for holiday homes
Holidu is a search platform for holiday homes and apartments across Europe. It shows listings from private hosts and partner platforms, and says it has more than 25 offices in holiday regions. Nothing is shipped, so what matters is how you pay, when money is due, how cancellation works and how refunds reach you. This guide covers the German site holidu.de, based on its help pages. If you book from the UK, daily cashback also has a separate Holidu page for the UK.
How booking works
A booking can run through Holidu itself or through a partner platform such as Booking.com or Airbnb. The booking confirmation email tells you which one applies, and that decides who handles payment and refunds. Prices come from the hosts. Discounts, for example for longer stays, are applied automatically, and Holidu cannot add extra reductions above the listed price. Trying other dates or a longer stay can lower the nightly price.
Extra costs to check
After you pick dates and guests, the listing shows every additional cost, either included in the price or payable on site. Typical items are towels and bed linen, final cleaning, pets and utilities such as electricity and water. Optional extras like a baby cot or pool heating are listed on the main page of the listing.
Payment
Holidu accepts Visa, Mastercard and American Express, plus PayPal. Some methods depend on your country. Klarna is available in Austria, Germany and the Netherlands, SEPA direct debit in Austria and Germany, and guests from France can also use Carte Bancaire. Some bookings need a deposit first and the rest later. The due dates are in your confirmation email and under My Bookings in your account, and Holidu sends a reminder. If the second payment fails and is not completed by the deadline, the booking can be cancelled automatically.
Cancellation and refunds
The cancellation policy is shown in your booking. A flexible policy allows free cancellation until 24 hours before check-in. A strict policy gives only a partial refund or none, so read it before you pay. Some listings on the site carry a free cancellation label. After a cancellation you may owe part or all of the price, depending on the host's policy.
For a booking made through Holidu, a refund normally reaches the original payment method within 2 to 4 business days, depending on your bank. If the host cancels and you already paid, you get the full amount back. For bookings through Booking.com or Airbnb, contact that platform's support.

Using cashback
Open the Holidu page at daily cashback, where the current rate (up to $56.04) and the latest offers are listed, and press the shop button. Then search and book as usual. The cashback shows as pending in your free account and becomes confirmed once Holidu has reported the booking. A cancelled booking reduces the amount, and a code from another site can cost you the cashback.
Practical tips
- Check the cancellation policy and the extra costs before paying, because both differ per listing.
- Note the due date of a second payment and keep funds on your card.
- Look at your confirmation email to see whether Holidu or a partner platform handles your booking.
