Booking with Evago: payment, cancellation rules and refunds
Evago is an online travel search that compares flights, hotels, car rentals, packages, cruises and activities. The company describes itself as a metasearch platform with more than 500 providers and coverage of over 150 countries. There is no parcel to ship, so the useful questions are how you pay, what the cancellation rules are for each kind of booking, and who is responsible when something goes wrong. The answers below come from the Evago terms and its about page.
How booking works
Some bookings are fulfilled directly by Evago and others through third-party suppliers and affiliate partners. For a booking made through an affiliate link, the contract is between you and the provider, so read that provider's own terms and refund rules first. You must be at least 18 to book, and you are responsible for accurate passenger details, valid passports and any visas. A confirmation email with a PDF invoice follows each booking. If it has not arrived after 15 minutes, check your spam folder.
Where it works and in what currency
The site is in English and shows prices in US dollars unless it says otherwise. Your bank may add foreign transaction fees. Evago describes itself as serving travellers worldwide, and its destinations cover more than 150 countries. The shop is listed in the US section at daily cashback.
Payment
Payments run through Stripe. Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover are accepted, and your card is charged as soon as the booking is confirmed. Evago keeps only a Stripe token, not your full card number. If a payment fails, nothing is charged, and you can enter the details again.
Cancellations and refunds
| Booking | Rule stated by Evago |
|---|---|
| Flights | Fare rules of the ticket apply, non-refundable fares stay non-refundable |
| Hotels | Full refund if cancelled 48 hours or more before check-in |
| Car rental | Full refund up to 24 hours before pick-up |
| Cruises | Full refund more than 30 days before departure |
For flights, airline cancellation fees are the customer's cost, and refundable fares can be cancelled before departure. Evago advises to get in touch within 24 hours of booking. A hotel cancelled inside 48 hours of check-in is not refunded, and neither are early departures. Car rental cancellations inside 24 hours cost a one-day rental. Cruises are non-refundable within 30 days of departure, and partial cancellations are not accepted.
Approved refunds reach the original payment method in 3 to 5 business days, depending on the bank. To start one, email [email protected] with your booking reference. The team aims to reply within one business day.
Using cashback
Open the Evago page at daily cashback, where the current rate (1.5%) and the latest offers are listed, and press the shop button. Then search and book as usual. The cashback shows as pending in your free account and becomes confirmed once Evago has reported the booking. A cancelled booking reduces the amount, and a code from another site can cost you the cashback.
Practical tips
- Read the cancellation rule for your booking type before paying, since flights, hotels, cars and cruises differ.
- Book hotels with the 48 hour rule in mind if your plans might change.
- Keep the booking reference and the PDF invoice, because every refund request asks for it.
