Shopping at Paper & Sons: shipping outside Germany, returns and cashback
Paper & Sons is a German label from Heilbronn that makes backpacks, tote bags and travel bags from kraft paper. The shop is in German, but its country menu goes well beyond Germany. If you are outside the EU, such as in the UK or the US, a few details decide whether an order makes sense.
Which countries you can pick
The country selector in the shop lists Belgium, Germany, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Canada, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Czechia, the United States and Cyprus. The United Kingdom and Switzerland are not on that list, so choose a listed country as the delivery country when you order. Prices are shown including taxes, and the shipping cost is calculated at checkout.
Shipping costs and delivery times
Paper & Sons ships with DHL. The shop describes the shipping as climate neutral, and the shipping cartons are made from 95 percent recycled cardboard. The backpack arrives wrapped in butter paper instead of a product box.

The shipping page adds that customs duties may apply for deliveries outside the EU, which can make the order more expensive. The shop states no flat shipping price for Canada or the United States, so look at the cart before you pay. The banner on every page promises that an order placed today is shipped tomorrow, and free shipping within Germany.
Once your order has left the warehouse, you get a confirmation email with the tracking link and further details.

Returns
You have 30 days to send the product back, with no reason needed, and the shop refunds the purchase price right after the return arrives. The shop makes no statement on who pays the return postage or how a return from abroad works, so write to the shop through its contact page before you send anything from outside Germany. The shop also has a separate page to withdraw from the contract.
Because returns from the US or Canada can be costly, check size, material and care first. The shop has a size guide and a care guide, and the material is washable by hand at 30 degrees without detergent, with only a few drops of dish soap for dirt.
According to the FAQ, the kraft paper is vegan, carries the Peta Approved Vegan label and comes from FSC certified forestry. A special finish makes it water repellent and tear resistant. The lining and straps are linen fibre. One tree is planted for each product sold through One Tree Planted.
