Buying NordVPN: plans, the 30-day money-back guarantee, auto-renewal and cashback
NordVPN is a subscription service, so a purchase there raises other questions than an order from a shop that posts parcels. There is nothing to ship. What counts is which plan you choose, how long the minimum term is, what happens at renewal and when you can get your money back. We read the terms of service and the pricing page on nordvpn.com in October 2026. The prices vary by country and by offer, so we do not quote them here. You see the amount for your country on the pricing page.
Where you can use and buy it
The service is sold worldwide through the website, and the site is available in many languages, among them English, German, French, Spanish, Dutch, Polish and Japanese. Payments are handled by different Nord companies depending on where you live. For example, EU residents are served mainly by NordSec B.V. in Amsterdam for PayPal payments, UK residents by Moonflash Limited in London and US and Mexican residents by Lagosec, Inc. The terms also say the service may be subject to export control and sanctions law. You must not be located in, or resident of, a country under comprehensive sanctions. The service is meant for personal use by adult consumers, aged 18 or more.
Plans
The pricing page shows three plans: Basic, Complete and Ultra. Basic is the secure, fast VPN. Complete adds, among other things, next-generation antivirus, ad and tracker blocking, phishing detection, a password manager and 1 TB of cloud storage. Ultra adds a personal data removal tool called Incogni. Plans are sold for different terms, and the longest on the page is two years. The page itself marks the lowest figure as an introductory price compared with the renewal price, so look at what the plan will cost when it renews.
| Point | What the terms say |
|---|---|
| Payment | Card, PayPal in the EU, crypto and prepaid cards are mentioned |
| Money-back guarantee | 30 days from the first purchase |
| Renewal | Automatic, at the price valid on the renewal day |
| Support | [email protected] for the terms, Support Center for help |
Auto-renewal and cancellation
Every paid plan renews on its own at the end of the first period unless you cancel the renewal before the billing date. The renewal is charged at the price valid at that time. You cancel in your Nord account under Billing by choosing Cancel auto-renewal. Cancelling stops future charges, and you keep access until the end of the paid period, but it does not give you a refund of fees already paid. Prices can also change for renewals, as the terms point out.
Money-back guarantee and refunds
If you are not satisfied, you can end the contract and ask for a refund within 30 days of the purchase. After a renewal the guarantee no longer applies, unless the law of your country says otherwise. For plans longer than one month that were renewed and bought from Germany, the Netherlands or the United Kingdom, there is a full refund within 30 days of the renewal charge, and after that a pro rata refund for the months left. The refund goes to the original payment method. Crypto payments are refunded in crypto, and prepaid or gift cards may not be refunded. Purchases via the Apple App Store follow Apple's refund rules, and those through resellers follow the reseller's terms. After a refund you lose access, and the guarantee does not apply a second time if you buy again.
Cashback on NordVPN
Open the NordVPN page at daily cashback, where the current rate (20%) and the offers we found are listed. Press the shop button and buy your plan on the website. In your free account the cashback shows as open and turns confirmed once NordVPN has reported the order, normally after the 30-day guarantee period. If you take a refund, the cashback for it is deducted.
Practical tips
- Buy on the website rather than through an app store if you want the money-back route described above.
- Set a reminder before the first renewal date and decide whether to keep the plan.
- Do the whole purchase in one visit, and keep other voucher or cashback tabs closed.
