GetOut pass: how the membership works, renewal, cancelling and cashback
GetOut sells annual passes for attractions in the United States. Instead of a parcel you buy a membership for your market, such as Arizona or Las Vegas, and redeem offers in the app at partner attractions, from family venues to experiences and activities. There is nothing to ship, so the questions that matter are different: where the pass works, how long it lasts, how renewal and cancelling work and what you need before your first visit. The answers below come from the shop's FAQ and contact pages.
Where the pass works
Passes are sold per market. At the top of the site you choose your location, and each market has its own list of attractions. The Las Vegas pass, for example, is shown with 136 attractions. The shop says that available attractions vary by market and can change over time. If you travel to the US, pick the market you will visit before you buy, because the offers belong to that market.
How the membership works
You buy a pass, create a login with email and password, fill in a member profile for each person on the account and download the GetOut app. A completed profile and an active membership are required before you visit a venue. At the attraction you open the app, choose an offer and show it to get your admission. Anyone can create a free account to browse attractions and offers, but redeeming needs a membership.
The membership is not transferable. It is linked to the person by name, age and gender, so nobody else can use your pass.
Offers and how often you can use them
Each offer has its own rhythm. An offer available once a year can be used again only after you renew the pass. Monthly offers reset on the first day of every month, and quarterly offers on the first day of January, April, July and October. Blackout dates and restrictions are shown in the details of an offer in the app or on the website. The attractions keep the right to change their offers at any time.
Renewal and cancelling
A GetOut membership is valid for 12 months from the day you activate it. It renews automatically unless you switch auto-renewal off, and the shop sends a reminder at least 30 days before. Renewal happens on the current plan in your market at that time. You can turn auto-renewal on or off in your account settings, and you can cancel the renewal there at any time, on a computer or in your phone browser. If a payment fails, your access can be limited until it is sorted out, and you can update your card in the account settings.
| Topic | What the shop says |
|---|---|
| Term | 12 months from activation |
| Renewal | Automatic, can be switched off in the account |
| Reminder | At least 30 days before renewal |
| Transfer | Not allowed, the pass is personal |
| Use | Through the GetOut app |
Gifts and support
Gift codes are redeemed on the Redeem Gift tab of the website. For questions there is a contact form, answered within 24 hours for non-urgent requests, plus live chat and a knowledge base. Account merges and changes to profile details such as name or photo go through support, and some updates can take up to 7 days. For refunds, read the terms of use linked in the footer before you buy, because the FAQ does not describe them.
Using cashback
Open the GetOut page at daily cashback, where the current rate (2.5%) is listed together with the offers we check every day. Press the shop button, choose your market and pass, and pay as usual. In your free account the cashback shows as open and turns confirmed once GetOut has reported the order. If a purchase is refunded, the cashback for it is deducted.
Practical tips
- Create the member profiles for everyone before the trip, so the app works at the entrance.
- Look at the blackout dates of the attractions you want most.
- If you do not want a second year, switch off auto-renewal in your account after you buy.
