Booking at billigflug.de: payment, cancelling and cashback
billigflug.de is a German flight portal that compares fares and sells tickets for scheduled and low-cost airlines. It belongs to TC Flights Germany GmbH in Leipzig, and the site is in German. No parcel is shipped, so the points worth knowing before you book are how payment works, what a cancellation or rebooking costs and when billigflug.de or the airline is your contact.
How a booking works
You enter airports and dates, filter the offers by price, times, duration and airline, and pick one. The list shows whether a flight is a scheduled or a low-cost carrier. After you fill in the details, the booking page shows all costs: the fare, fees and VAT, any payment-method fee, extras and optional travel insurance. The button "Buchung abschließen" makes the booking binding. A non-binding reservation is not possible. The confirmation page works as a booking request confirmation, and the final confirmation arrives as an invoice and e-ticket. Delays can occur if a card cannot be charged, if extras were requested or if a traveller is a minor, and the service team contacts you in that case.
Payment
Full payment is due at the time of booking. The site accepts American Express, Visa and Mastercard. For low-cost bookings the airline dictates the payment methods. Direct debit works if you have a German current account, with exceptions: bookings less than 72 hours before travel, bookings from a total value of 1000 euros, and low-cost flights must be paid by card. Savings and fixed-deposit accounts cannot be used for direct debit. The cost of the chosen payment method is shown in brackets next to it. Currencies on the site include euro, Swiss franc, Czech koruna, Danish krone and Polish zloty.
| Question | Scheduled airline | Low-cost airline |
|---|---|---|
| Rebook or cancel | Through the billigflug.de service | Only directly with the airline |
| Fee | Depends on fare, up to the full ticket price | Set by the airline |
| Payment | Card or direct debit | Methods set by the airline |
Rebooking, cancelling and name changes
For scheduled flights you rebook or cancel through the billigflug.de service, and the fee depends on the fare. It can be up to 100 percent of the ticket price, and the exact figure is in the fare rules of each offer and in the terms. A low-cost flight can only be rebooked or cancelled on the airline's website or hotline, and the contact details are in your confirmation email. Rebooking means changing the date with the same airline and route. A name change or correction is not a rebooking and means cancellation. After ticketing, names cannot be changed, so enter them exactly as in the passport.
Good to know
- You cannot skip the outbound flight and use only the return, though you can fly out and let the return lapse.
- If you miss check-in, you lose your right to travel but still owe the fare.
- Baggage rules differ by airline and class. Several low-cost carriers no longer include a checked bag, and extra bags are booked during the flight booking.
- A through-checked bag on a single ticket normally goes to the final airport, except on connections in the USA.
Cashback at billigflug.de
The billigflug.de page at daily cashback shows the current rate (up to $4.49) and the offers with the date of the last check. Press the shop button, then book as usual. In your free account the cashback is first open and becomes confirmed once billigflug.de has reported the booking. If a flight is cancelled and refunded, the amount for it is deducted.
Practical tips
- Check the payment line before you confirm, because the method fee is shown in brackets.
- Save the confirmation page as a PDF, as the site advises.
- Finish in one visit and pause your ad blocker, so the click is not lost.
