Xiaomi vs Huawei: Which Brand Is Better?
Xiaomi vs Huawei: Which Brand Is Better? Neither brand wins on every count, because the answer depends on the model and on how you like to shop. For the buying side we recommend Xiaomi: its UK store has a shop page with us, and the store names two years of cover on smartphones. Huawei gives the same 24 months on the main device and clear return rules, but it is not on our list. Prices move from week to week, so compare the final amount on the day. Cashback: a shop page for one of the two
You find Xiaomi at Xiaomi at daily cashback. The current rate sits on that page, so we do not repeat it here. Huawei is not on our list, which means a Huawei order earns nothing from us and costs you nothing extra either.
Available here with cashback
To collect cashback on a Xiaomi order, start on the shop page and finish the purchase in the same browser session. Let the browser allow tracking while you do. Your account then lists the order as pending until the store has checked it. According to the page, your reward comes from the amount you pay once vouchers and promotions are off, with taxes excluded. It also warns that a promotional code missing from its list can put your claim at risk, so only type in a code the page itself names.
Changing your mind: two different clocks
Xiaomi counts 14 calendar days from the invoice or the delivery date, whichever comes later, for a product in proper condition. If the device has a manufacturing fault, the window grows to 30 calendar days, with money back or a swap. Before anything ships you need a service number from Xiaomi, and three routes lead to it: your order page, the support site or a call to the contact centre. The phone has to come back with packaging, accessories and a readable IMEI label.
Huawei splits it in two. Once your parcel is delivered you have 14 days to decide, counted from the day after you receive it. After you submit the return request you get a further 14 days to post the goods. With a Huawei account you pick the order in your account, choose a reason and receive the label by email. If you ordered as a guest, you contact the customer team. Huawei also offers an exchange for the same product within 14 days of receipt.
Who pays for the return
Xiaomi pays the postage back when a covered defect is the reason, and also during the first 14 days, on a prepaid label. Huawei provides a prepaid label for addresses in the UK, with collection on weekdays or a drop-off at the courier. Without that label you may have to carry the cost. Huawei refunds to the original payment method within 14 days of getting the item back. It may reduce the refund if you handled the goods more than needed to inspect them.
For your cashback the rule is the same at both: an order you send back does not pay out. Decide first, then expect the reward.
Warranty
Xiaomi states 2 years for its smartphones, covering faults in materials and workmanship. Huawei lists 24 months for the main product on its UK smartphone page and the same period for built-in batteries. It also separates the box contents: charger adapters carry 6 months, and USB charging cables 3 months. Protective films are not covered. Read the page for your exact model before you rely on a longer cover.
Delivery
Xiaomi ships standard orders for free over £59, and most arrive in two to three business days. Below that amount the buyer pays shipping. Huawei makes standard delivery free for orders of £99 or over and says orders usually ship within one to two working days. Both deliver within the United Kingdom only.

Who should pick what
Value hunters: if a Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO model fits your budget, the Xiaomi store lets you add cashback on top of the shop price. Compare the final amount with a Huawei device on the day you buy.
People who want one ecosystem: the Huawei UK store sorts its range into phones, wearables, tablets, audio, PCs and accessories. If you already wear a Huawei watch, staying in the family can matter more than cashback.
Buyers who want to test first: both stores allow a return, but the cashback then drops out. Huawei adds a simple exchange for the same product, which suits a size or colour swap.
What we recommend
Should you be open to both brands, book the Xiaomi from the shop page and keep the phone past the return window so the cashback can be confirmed. If your heart is set on Huawei, the store terms are clear and the main difference we can document is the missing cashback.
Quick takeaways
- Cashback with us exists for the Xiaomi UK shop page, not for Huawei.
- Xiaomi: 14 calendar days to change your mind. Huawei: 14 days to decide plus 14 days to send it back.
- Both state 24 months of cover for the phone itself.
- A returned order earns no cashback.
