Roamable vs Holafly: Which Travel eSIM Is Better?
Roamable vs Holafly: Which Travel eSIM Is Better? For most trips we point to Roamable. The reason is concrete: you buy a data plan sized for the trip, can top it up from your original link, and the refund policy covers an eSIM that cannot be installed or used. Holafly is the stronger pick when you want unlimited data by the day. Plans and prices change often, so compare the final amount for your country and your days. Status October 2026.
Cashback: Roamable yes, Holafly no
Our shop page Roamable carries the live rate, and that is the door your order goes through. We list no Holafly page, so a Holafly order earns nothing through us. This is no verdict on the product; we simply have no cashback route to show you.

How a Roamable order with cashback runs
Open the shop page first, not an old browser tab. Switch off the ad blocker and close other voucher or comparison sites. Then choose your country plan and pay as usual. You pay the same price as always. Once Roamable confirms the order, the entry in your free account moves from pending to payable.
A promotional code that is not listed on our Roamable coupon page can affect cashback eligibility. Our shop page lists the conditions, so skim them before typing a code at checkout.
Refunds and cashback belong together
Roamable states that an eSIM which cannot be used because of a technical problem is refunded in full when no data was used. This also applies if the eSIM was installed but stayed unused, and to devices that are not supported. Ask for the refund by email with your order number. If the order is refunded, the cashback for it falls away, because the purchase no longer stands.
Holafly gives you up to 6 months to ask for a refund. For a full refund the eSIM must not be activated yet. For an incompatible or locked phone you must not have scanned the QR code or used data. If the connection fails, Holafly asks you to contact support before the trip ends, since it cannot promise a refund afterwards.
Plans, coverage and validity
Roamable sells data plans for more than 150 countries, plus regional and global eSIMs. According to its FAQ, a plan usually lasts between 1 and 30 days, and validity starts when you connect to a local network at your destination. You can install the eSIM up to 180 days before departure.
Holafly lists more than 200 destinations. Its main offer is unlimited data for the number of days you choose, and there are also monthly global plans with hotspot. Whether unlimited is worth it depends on your use: a week of maps and messages rarely needs it, a month of video calls might.
Setup, top-up and calls
Both providers deliver a QR code. Holafly also offers installation through its own app and a support chat that is open around the clock. With Roamable you get an email with the QR code and a link to track usage and remaining days. If data runs out, you buy a top-up through that same link.
Roamable eSIMs are data only, so calls and texts go through apps such as WhatsApp or FaceTime. Once an eSIM is removed from the phone, Roamable says it cannot be reused. Holafly lists a monthly plan with a local number for inbound SMS; check at checkout which plan you are choosing.

Who should pick which
Short trips and light users. A plan with a fixed amount of data is enough for maps, tickets and messages. Roamable fits here, and you earn cashback through our shop page.
Heavy streaming and hotspot users. Anyone who tethers a laptop or watches a lot of video can stop counting gigabytes with unlimited data. Holafly is built for exactly that.
People who want a call number. Neither standard plan replaces your home number. Keep your home SIM active for calls and use the eSIM for data.
What we recommend
We recommend Roamable for most trips: a plan sized to the trip, a top-up route, a refund policy for plans that cannot be used, and a shop page with cashback. Choose Holafly when unlimited data and round-the-clock chat matter more to you than cashback. Whichever you pick, look up your phone model first: it needs eSIM support and no carrier lock.
