Renting a car with VIP Cars: cancellation, payment, pick-up and cashback
VIP Cars is a car rental price comparison and booking site, not a rental company with its own fleet. It negotiates with more than 800 international and local suppliers and offers cars at more than 22,000 locations worldwide, among them brands such as Hertz, Alamo and Avis. Instead of a delivery section, the points that matter here are what the price covers, how cancellation works, how you pay and what to bring to the rental desk.
What the price usually includes
VIP Cars says its prices include collision damage waiver (CDW), theft waiver, the airport surcharge and taxes. If you pick a different drop-off location while booking, the one way charge is included in the price as well. The tank policy is full to full, so you return the car with a full tank. Inclusions still differ by supplier and country, so open the Rental Terms link next to each car before you book. Customers from the US and Canada get insurance exclusive deals.
Cancelling and changing a booking
You can cancel for free up to 48 hours before pick-up and get 100% of your pre-payment back. If fewer than 48 hours are left, an amount of GBP 30 or the equivalent is retained. To cancel or change a booking, the terms tell you to call the VIP Cars team, who then inform the supplier. The supplier can accept or refuse a change. You can also amend a booking online under Manage Booking with your reservation number and e-mail address.
Paying for the rental
When you reserve, you pay a small booking amount on the website. The rest is paid at the rental desk when you hand over your voucher. The terms say that the total rental amount contains the supplier's rental price, the VIP Cars service charge and taxes. The security deposit differs from supplier to supplier and from country to country. You find it under Rental Terms for each car, and it is repeated in your rental documents.
What to bring to the desk
- The confirmation voucher you received by e-mail.
- A valid driving licence, or an international driving permit where it is needed.
- A credit card in the name of the main driver, because most suppliers block the deposit on it.
- An ID, preferably a passport or national ID, and in some cases a passport.
Generally the minimum age is 21. Some suppliers charge extra for drivers under 25 or over 65, so check the supplier terms for the exact figure. Extra drivers are also covered by the supplier's own policy.
| At a glance | VIP Cars |

| Payment | Small amount online, rest at the desk |
| Minimum age | Generally 21 |
Cashback with daily cashback
Open the VIP Cars page at daily cashback, where the current rate (up to 25%) is shown. Press the shop button, then search and book as usual. In your free account the cashback first shows as open and becomes confirmed once VIP Cars has reported the booking, normally after the rental. A cancelled booking is deducted from the amount.
Practical tips
- Read the Rental Terms for the specific car before you pay, especially deposit and age rules.
- Check your e-mail and spam folder, because the voucher arrives there.
- Finish the booking in one visit and keep other cashback sites closed, since a later click can replace the first one.
