Marks and Spencer vs Next: Where Is It Better to Order?
Marks and Spencer vs Next: Where Is It Better to Order? If you want cashback, order from Marks and Spencer, because only that retailer has a shop page with us. Next makes up ground on returns, where the label costs nothing. Which basket ends up cheaper depends on offers and the size of the order, and it changes all the time. Status October 2026.
Both retailers are based in the UK and serve customers in Germany through their own country sites. We look at what counts when you order: cashback, delivery, customs, returns and what sending something back costs.

Where you can get cashback
Marks and Spencer has its own page at Marks and Spencer at daily cashback, written for continental Europe. Today's rate and the conditions sit there. Next is not part of our shop list. An order placed with Next earns nothing through us, and no special route is needed. That does not make Next worse; our benefit simply does not reach that order.
How an order at Marks and Spencer with cashback runs
Start on the shop page and place the order without leaving that browser session. Switch the ad blocker off and keep other price or voucher sites closed. The price in the basket is the same as without us. In your free account the order first shows as pending. It is confirmed once the retailer has checked it; the shop page says how long that takes.
If you send items back, the cashback for those items falls away. M&S allows 28 days for returns from receipt. So order with the plan of keeping the goods if the cashback matters to you.
Delivery, customs and returns at Marks and Spencer
For Germany M&S states standard delivery in 2 to 3 working days. Shipping costs €4.99 and is free on orders above €50. Duties are already paid, according to the retailer. An order can only be cancelled within 30 minutes of purchase; after that it goes ahead.
On a return M&S deducts €4.99 shipping fee from your refund. The money goes back through its partner Global-e to the original payment method and can take up to 14 working days after you hand in the parcel. The statutory right of withdrawal of 14 days also applies. The international shop has no beauty items, flowers, wine, toys or books, and a PO box is not accepted as a delivery address.
Delivery, customs and returns at Next
Next delivers to Germany free of charge on orders from €40, and charges €4.95 shipping below that. Delivery normally takes 2 to 3 working days, and in the sale 14 to 21 days. Customs and taxes are in the price (DDP). Parcels go only to the home address on the account, not to businesses, PO boxes or other countries.
Returns are free with the prepaid DHL label, and Next gives 28 days to send things back. After the goods reach its returns centre, Next refunds within one working day; it expects 7 to 10 days for the parcel to arrive. A late return earns an e-voucher instead of money.
Loyalty scheme and voucher codes
Marks and Spencer runs Sparks with a sign-up discount and other perks, plus discounts for students, young people and older customers. According to M&S, offer prices cannot be combined with other discount codes. A code missing from the shop page may put your cashback at risk, so read the notes there before using one. At Next, a promo code cannot be used together with the payment method Klarna.

Who suits what
You buy rarely and keep the goods: Marks and Spencer pays off here, because the cashback stays and the return fee never applies.
You order several sizes and send some back: At Next the return costs nothing. At M&S a fee comes off every return, and the cashback for the returned pieces falls away.
You send gifts to the UK: For that, M&S points you to its British site marksandspencer.com. Next delivers to Germany only to the home address on the account.
What we recommend
If you want cashback, order from Marks and Spencer: it is the retailer with a shop page, returns run 28 days, and from €50 the shipping fee disappears. If you send things back often and do not need cashback, Next is better on return costs. Compare the final price for the same basket in the checkout step.
