Buying at Megabon: how vouchers work, booking, cancellation and cashback
Megabon is a deals site for hotel stays, wellness weekends and tickets for theme parks, run by Moderna Ventures SA in Giubiasco, Switzerland. It works differently from a normal online shop. You buy a voucher, and you book and redeem it with the hotel or provider yourself. Because nothing is shipped, the points that count are how the voucher works, where the offers are and what happens if your plans change.
Where the offers are
The site is available in English, Slovenian, Croatian, Serbian, Bosnian and Montenegrin, and prices are shown in euros. The offers on the start page are located in Italy, Austria, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Czech Republic, Germany, Greece and the United Kingdom, among them hotels in Budapest, Prague, Vienna, Florence and London, wellness resorts in Hungary and Slovenia and tickets for Gardaland and Mirabilandia. Each offer lists what is included, for example the number of nights, the board, the use of the spa and the number of persons.
How a voucher works
You need to register to view the offers and to buy. In the buy step you choose the number of vouchers, up to three per person for hotel offers according to the FAQ, pick the payment method and confirm. The voucher then appears in your profile under My vouchers, and you print it. The FAQ explains that you pay a share of the price online and the rest at the hotel, and the purchase step shows both sums before you confirm.
The purchase alone does not reserve a room. You book your stay by email or phone with the hotel, using the contact details in the remarks of the offer and on the voucher. According to the terms, the voucher is redeemed once you hold a written booking confirmation from the hotel. Hand the printed voucher over on arrival. A voucher is personalized and can be used by one person, even though the hotel packages are made for two. Vouchers can be combined for a longer stay in agreement with the hotel.

Payment
The FAQ names credit card payment, handled through the Gate2Shop system, and the terms add wire transfer and other methods that are shown in the offer. Which one is available is displayed in the buy step.
Validity, cancellation and refunds
The validity ends on the date printed on the voucher and cannot be prolonged. Check the dates in the remarks of the offer first, because many packages are bound to periods or exclude certain days. For offers from the travel category, the cancellation rules of the final service provider apply, and these are shown in the offer before you buy. Tickets from airline providers cannot be cancelled or refunded after purchase. The terms add that this also applies in cases of force majeure.
Refunds are handled by the hotel or provider that issued the offer, and Megabon has no obligation to refund the voucher price. If your dates are not certain, ask the hotel by email whether your preferred weeks are available before you pay.
Children and extras
Every hotel has its own conditions for children and additional fees, which are written in the remarks of each offer. If it is not specified, contact the hotel before booking.
Cashback at Megabon
Open the Megabon page at daily cashback. It shows the current cashback (1.5%) and the offers we check every day. Press the shop button, then buy your voucher as usual. In your free account the cashback shows as open and becomes confirmed once Megabon has reported the purchase. If a voucher purchase is refunded, the cashback for it is deducted. A code from another site can cost you the cashback, so finish the order in the same visit.
