Booking.com vs ZenHotels: Who Has the Cheapest Hotel Prices? Cashback Compared
Booking.com vs ZenHotels, which one gives more money back? Both are shops with us, and at both what counts is the final amount you pay, not the list price. We recommend Booking.com first, because there you can combine cashback with the free Genius scheme. ZenHotels is the alternative if you want to pay online early or reserve without card details. Rules as of October 2026.
How the cashback arises
The Booking.com page at daily cashback shows the current rate, the offers and the date of the last check. A button leads to the provider. Your price does not change, the provider pays us a share and we pass it on. ZenHotels has its own shop page where it is offered in your country version. Start there every time, including repeat bookings.

Payment method and confirmation
The cashback shows as pending in your free account first. It is confirmed once the provider reports the trip as completed, for hotels after the stay. That holds whether you paid at once online with ZenHotels or pay at the property with Booking.com. If you book in spring for autumn, you will see the confirmation only after you have travelled.
Cancel and there is no cashback
If you cancel, you get no cashback. On Booking.com the property decides on the fee, and free-cancellation bookings cost nothing. At ZenHotels the voucher states the hotel's rule, and some non-refundable bookings cannot be changed, according to its help. If your plans are open, pick the flexible rate.
Paying without a card, and cashback
ZenHotels offers a filter for offers without a credit card. That changes nothing about cashback: what matters is the click through the shop page. If you booked without a card, keep the confirmation anyway, because it is your proof if the pending entry is missing in your account.
Currency and amount
Cashback is calculated from the amount the provider reports. If you pay at ZenHotels in a currency other than your account currency, your bank converts at its own rate, which affects only your card statement. Watch the currency in which your offer is held at the provider so that you compare the total correctly.
Before you click book
Three things are worth a look before you finish. First, are you signed in if you want to use Genius? Second, do room type, nights and guests match, as at ZenHotels the price may be per room, and the guest count appears next to the amount. Third, have you read the cancellation deadline with its time of day? Doing so avoids the most common mistakes that later cost cashback or money.
After booking
Keep the confirmation email from the site until the cashback is confirmed. Check names and dates at once, while errors are easy to correct. A pending entry should appear in your daily cashback account after a short time. If the trip changes later through a rebooking, the amount on which cashback is calculated can change. On cancellation it falls away completely.
Why we name Booking.com first
The order is no verdict on ZenHotels but a recommendation with a reason. At Booking.com the help pages cover price, fees, cancellation and invoices in detail, and Genius adds a free scheme that works from sign-in. If you prefer to pay online at once or reserve without card details, ZenHotels offers the fitting routes. You can combine either with cashback as long as you keep to the route via the shop page.
Reading crossed-out prices
Both sites sometimes show a crossed-out price. At Booking.com, according to its help, that is the third-highest price the hotel charges around your arrival date, under the same conditions. At ZenHotels it means the hotel currently offers the room there at a reduced price. A saving against the rival site is not shown by either, and the display has no effect on your cashback.
