Booking a car with Vrooem: payment split, cancellation and cashback

Vrooem is not a rental company itself but a booking platform that puts local and international car rental companies side by side. That changes the practical questions: instead of shipping and returns of goods, what counts is where you can pick up a car, how the payment is split, what happens if you cancel and what you need to bring to the desk.

Where you can pick up a car

You search by pickup location, drop-off location and dates. The homepage highlights airports such as Dubai (DXB), Marrakech (RAK), Casablanca (CMN), Tangier (TNG), Rabat (RBA), Bologna (BLQ) and Malaga (AGP), and says it covers more than 200 destinations. The site is available in English, French, Dutch, Spanish and Arabic, and the help assistant answers in the same languages. If you prefer to talk to a person, there is a contact form.

How payment works

You pay up to 15% of the rental price online, and the rest goes to the rental company at the desk when you pick up the car. The split is shown before you pay. Every offer shows the price for the whole rental period. Fuel policy, deposit and cancellation conditions come from the rental company and are displayed per offer before you book.

A free travel eSIM comes with every booking, for mobile data at your destination. You set it up with a QR code and keep your own number. It needs an eSIM-ready phone.

Cancellation and refunds

The terms allow you to cancel before the rental period starts, but cancellation fees may apply. A refund depends on the rental company's cancellation policy, on whether you cancel within the allowed time and on any administrative or processing fees. Because the policy differs from offer to offer, read the cancellation line of the offer you choose. The rental company can also cancel in exceptional cases, such as when a vehicle is unavailable.

What to bring to the desk

  • A valid driver's licence and a government-issued photo ID such as a passport or national ID.
  • A credit or debit card for the security deposit. Some locations accept debit cards, sometimes with extra requirements such as proof of insurance, return travel plans or a larger deposit.
  • An International Driving Permit if your licence is from abroad and the location asks for one.

The minimum age is typically 21 but varies by location and car type, and renters under 25 may pay a young driver surcharge. A late return can cost extra: there is usually a grace period of 30 minutes to 1 hour, after that you may be charged for another day. Fuel, tolls and parking are your responsibility, and you should check whether insurance is included or can be added.

Open the Vrooem page at daily cashback, where current offers are listed and checked every day, and the cashback rate is 23%. Press the shop button and book as usual. In your free account the cashback shows as open and turns confirmed after the rental company has confirmed the booking and the trip is done. If you cancel, the amount for that booking is deducted.
