Buying iolo software: refunds, renewal and cashback
iolo, run by RealDefense, LLC in Los Angeles, makes Windows software such as System Mechanic, Privacy Guardian and Malware Killer. It is a download, so there is no shipping to worry about. What matters instead is how the licence works, what happens when the first year ends, how a refund works and whether the shop is usable from your country. We read the sales and refund policy and the home page on iolo.com in October 2026. The terms can change, so look at the checkout again before you pay.
What you actually buy
The policy calls every purchase a licence for a copy of the software, not a sale of the software itself. Before you buy, the shop asks you to check that the product fits your PC, because only you know your equipment. You must be at least 18 years old. The home page also offers a free trial of System Mechanic, which is a sensible first step.
The company says the Whole Home License covers all the PCs in your home with one product licence. Keep your activation key safe, since you need it to install the software on a new computer.
Using it from outside the US
The shop is run from the United States and the product pages show prices in US dollars. Depending on the country where you order, a sales tax, VAT or other transaction tax can be added. Payment goes through a secure card processor that accepts major credit and debit cards and other popular methods for your location. Technical support and customer service are offered in English only when iolo provides them directly. In our offer data, iolo deals are tracked for the UK, Canada, Spain, Australia, Sweden, France, Poland, Germany, Italy, Brazil, Portugal and Switzerland.
Maintenance and automatic renewal
A period of maintenance, usually one year, is included in the first purchase. Several features depend on ongoing updates, so after that period you must renew maintenance to keep them. If you chose automatic renewal or did not opt out, your payment method is charged the then current renewal fee at the end of the first period and at the start of each later one. The shop says it gives notice before the charge. You can change the renewal setting by phone on (801) 523-6763, by email at [email protected] or by chat on iolo.com. Renewal prices can change with reasonable advance notice.

Refunds
You have to ask for a refund by phone or email within 30 days of the purchase date and explain why you are not satisfied. iolo checks the purchase date, price, receipt or licence key. The refund covers the original purchase price, minus a 15% processing fee and minus any discount or rebate that was applied. Taxes and other fees are not refunded, and the money goes back to the credit card you paid with.
There is no prorated refund for time left on a licence you no longer use or on a computer you discarded. If you bought through a third party, you deal with that seller and its policy instead.
Using cashback
Open the iolo page at daily cashback, where the current rate (up to $50) and the offers we found are listed with the date they were last checked. Press the shop button there, then shop and pay as you normally would. In your free account the cashback shows as open and becomes confirmed once iolo has reported the order. A returned item reduces the amount for that item.
Practical tips
- Try the free trial first, because the refund window is only 30 days and a fee is deducted.
- Decide about automatic renewal at checkout, and note the date the first maintenance year ends.
- Order direct from the shop page so the cashback is tracked. A purchase through a third party follows that seller's refund rules.
- Finish the order in one visit and pause your ad blocker on the shop, since either can break the click.
