Booking.com vs Agoda: Who Has the Cheapest Hotel Prices? Cashback Compared
Booking.com vs Agoda, which site comes out ahead for hotels? If you also care about money coming back, a second question counts: where is there cashback? We offer it for Booking.com and not for Agoda. The room price itself moves on both, so the total on the last page is what to compare. Where cashback exists
The Booking.com page at daily cashback shows the current rate, the offers and the date of the last check. A button leads from there to the provider. Your price stays the same, the provider pays us a share and we pass it on to you. We do not list Agoda, so a booking there earns no cashback from us and needs no special route.

How a booking runs
Always begin on the shop page, not in an old browser window. Switch the ad blocker off, keep other comparison or voucher sites closed and book in one session. The credit shows as pending in your free account first and is confirmed once Booking.com reports the trip as completed. For hotels that means after the stay. Months can lie between booking and departure, and the entry stays pending in that time.
Cancel and the cashback is gone
If you cancel, there is no cashback. So the cancellation rule counts twice. On Booking.com the property sets the fee, a free-cancellation booking costs nothing and non-refundable rates normally do. On Agoda the rate shows in the booking step what cancelling costs. If your dates are still open, the flexible rate is the calmer choice, even when the room costs a little more.
Price gaps that affect your cashback
Cashback is a share of what you pay. Whether and how it is calculated depends on the provider, and the shop page shows the rate. More important than any percentage point is the final price. On Agoda the terms describe the list price as usually excluding taxes and service fees, on Booking.com the help page spells out what is in the price. So never compare list prices, compare the amount on the payment page. Only when two offers tie there does cashback decide.
Cashback plus loyalty scheme
Booking.com's Genius scheme costs nothing. Signing in gets you Level 1 and ten percent off stays. Level 2 needs 5 bookings in 2 years, Level 3 needs 15. You can combine Genius and cashback as long as you go through the shop page while signed in. Agoda has its own VIP programme, which runs without us.
When the booking does not arrive
The most common reason for missing cashback is a broken path. If you open another offer in a different tab in between, or start a booking in an app without going through the shop page first, the match may be lost. The same goes for booking in the provider app: your route begins with us in the browser. After you finish, check that a pending entry appears in your account. If it does not, contact support with the confirmation before the trip takes place.
A sum to run in your head
Take two offers for the same room. One looks cheaper in the list, the other shows the lower total on the last page. Cashback is calculated on what you actually pay, not on the list price. So always pick the offer where you pay less in the end and where the cancellation rule fits your plans. A small price edge is not worth it if you cannot cancel and the trip is uncertain.
