eBay Money Back Guarantee covers purchases paid at eBay checkout for 30 days from the estimated or actual delivery date. It applies in three cases: the item does not arrive, it is faulty or damaged, or it does not match the listing. For a missing item you have 30 calendar days from the estimated delivery date to report it, and the full refund includes the original postage. For a faulty or wrong item you request a return within 30 calendar days of delivery, or longer if the seller offers a longer return window. You may also agree with the seller on a partial refund or a replacement. Money is returned to the original payment method, typically within 3 to 5 business days. If you disagree with the result of a case, you can appeal within 30 calendar days.
Some things are not covered, among them motor vehicles, real estate, services, digitally delivered content and travel tickets. One rule deserves attention: if you take the same transaction to your payment provider, the purchase is no longer eligible for the eBay guarantee, whatever the outcome there. Choose one route.
What AliExpress promises
AliExpress describes Buyer Protection as a refund for orders that never show up, come broken or differ from the listing. You open the claim from the order page, first talking to the seller if you wish, and refunds can go to your original payment method or, under certain conditions, to the AliExpress fast refund bonus. The window for reporting a problem is 15 days from receipt. Free Return runs 15 days from delivery, and a return because of a changed mind is paid by you. EU buyers also keep the 14-day right of withdrawal and the two-year legal guarantee.
