Place of Ëlms: worldwide shipping, duties and returns explained
Place of Ëlms sells menswear in limited quantities: outerwear, knitwear, denim, leather bags and a few home pieces. The shop sends parcels worldwide, but the rules differ by region. This guide collects what the shop says about shipping, customs, returns and payment before you order.
Shipping and delivery regions
Place of Ëlms delivers worldwide with DHL Express, FedEx, UPS and Canada Post. All shipping options for your address are shown at checkout, and costs depend on the service, the destination and the place the goods ship from. Standard shipping to the United States and Canada is free. Express shipping there is a paid extra, except when the shipment is worth more than $300. For EU countries and the United Kingdom the shop lists standard shipping.
The country selector on the site shows the prices in local currency, for instance euro for Germany, Austria, France and Italy, pounds for the United Kingdom, Swiss francs for Switzerland and Canadian dollars for Canada.
Processing time and tracking
Orders are processed within 1 working day. For North America the policy mentions 48 hours or the next working day, and orders from Friday to Sunday go out on the next business day. In sale periods it can take longer. Once the courier has the parcel, you receive an email with a tracking number. Orders placed separately are shipped separately. Pre-order items go out as soon as they reach the warehouse, and the card is charged at the time of the pre-order.
After dispatch an order can no longer be cancelled and the delivery address cannot be changed, so check it before you pay.
Customs and import fees
The shop offers DDP (delivery duties paid) to a few selected countries. For Canada and the United States, customs and import fees are included. Shipments to other countries may be subject to customs fees, import fees and taxes, which the customer pays and which are not reimbursed.

Returns and refunds
You can return an order completely or partly. The shop's terms mention a refund within 14 days of receiving the goods and a cancellation within 7 days, so tell the shop early. Items must be unworn except for trying on, unwashed, undamaged and unused, with the original tags, boxes and everything that came with the delivery. A security tag has to stay on. Shoes and accessories go back in their original boxes inside a protective shipping box.
Underwear and swimwear may only be tried on over your own clothes. Customized items, wellness goods such as candles, incense holders and fragrances, and certain beauty products with hazardous or flammable contents cannot be returned. The shop does not exchange items, you return and reorder. It refunds the item price including standard delivery to the original payment method, and you pay the return postage.
Payment
You can pay with Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Diners, Discover, JCB or Union Pay, and with PayPal. Your card is charged when the order is finalized, after the usual checks with the card issuer.
Cashback
Open the Place of Ëlms page at daily cashback, where the current rate (5%) and the offers we check every day are listed. Press the shop button there, then shop and pay as you normally would. In your free account the cashback shows as open and becomes confirmed once the shop has reported the order. A returned item is deducted from the amount. Take only the offers shown on that page, because a code from another site can cost you the cashback.
