Shopping at Dortex: delivery abroad, customs, returns and cashback

Dortex from Dortmund makes woven labels, hang tags, name tapes, stickers and iron-on transfers to your own design. Because every order is produced for you, delivery time is production time plus transit, and returns work differently from standard goods. This guide covers the countries Dortex ships to, what delivery costs and how returns work.

Where Dortex delivers

The shipping page lists Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and most of Europe, plus many countries worldwide. The site has country areas for the UK, Ireland, the USA, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Austria and Switzerland. Prices can be shown in euros, Swiss francs, US dollars, zloty, Swedish and Icelandic kronor and pounds. Collection is not possible, orders go out by post or parcel service only.

Delivery costs by country

Quoted delivery costs are final prices. Examples from the shipping table:

  • Germany: DHL Kleinpaket 3.95 euros (1 to 2 working days), DHL parcel 4.95 euros (1 day), UPS 9.95 euros (1 day)
  • United Kingdom: Warenpost ECO 2.95 euros (5 to 9 working days), Warenpost Premium 4.95 euros (4 to 6 days), DHL parcel 12.95 euros (4 to 6 days)
  • France: Warenpost ECO 2.95 euros (4 to 7 days), Premium 4.95 euros (3 to 5 days), DHL parcel 12.95 euros (2 to 4 days)
  • Canada and Australia: DHL parcel 32.95 euros with 5 to 9 days
  • United States: USPS Ground Advantage is shown as free, 5 to 9 working days

Warenpost ECO has no tracking, the other methods do. The shop also advertises free delivery from 50 euros of goods, and the basket shows which methods it applies to.

Production, customs and VAT

Production time is shown in the basket and in the order confirmation, and nothing is produced on weekends or public holidays. Woven labels are collected by colour combination, so common colours such as red on white usually go faster. Prices for EU deliveries include German VAT. For Switzerland no customs clearance applies up to 65 CHF and Dortex shows 8.1 percent Swiss VAT on the invoice. Outside the EU additional customs charges can apply, so ask your local customs office.

Returns

The legal 14-day withdrawal does not apply to personalised products. Voluntarily, Dortex takes back personalised items up to 90 euros gross goods value per order, even if you simply dislike the result. They must come back within 14 days of receipt, in the original packaging and in the full order quantity, and you pay the return postage. Items that are not personalised keep the normal withdrawal right.

Payment

You can pay by credit card, PayPal, Sofort, Google Pay, Apple Pay or on invoice after a credit check. Invoices are due 14 days after you receive invoice and goods.

Using cashback

Open the Dortex page at daily cashback for the current rate (4%) and the offers with the date we last checked them. Press the shop button and order as usual. The cashback shows as open in your free account and becomes confirmed once Dortex has reported the order. If you send an order back under the return promise, its share is deducted. A code from another site in the same visit can cost you the cashback.

Practical tips

  • Check your text, size and colours before you submit, since personalised goods are excluded from the legal withdrawal.
  • Minimum quantities differ by product, for example 25 pieces for a basic name tape and 50 or 100 for some labels.
  • Ask for the free material samples if you are unsure how a fabric feels.
