Booking with Oman Air: fares, baggage, hold option and cashback
Oman Air is the national airline of the Sultanate of Oman, flying from Muscat to destinations in the Gulf, Asia, Africa and Europe. For a flight booking, delivery and shipping do not apply. What counts instead is where you can book, how you pay, how fares and baggage work and what happens if your plans change. We read the FAQ pages on booking, baggage, fare bundles, check-in, the Hold My Booking page and the Time to Think page on omanair.com in October 2026. The airline can change its rules, so check the fare conditions again before you pay.
Where you can book
omanair.com has a version for many countries and languages, among them the US, the UK, Germany, Switzerland, India, Australia and the Gulf states, in English, German, French, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Turkish, Chinese, Hindi and Arabic. Prices are set by the point of origin: the fare shows in the currency of the country where your first flight departs. A few countries use an international currency instead, and the shop shows the final currency and amount before you confirm. You can book up to 330 days before departure, and the FAQ names 2 hours before departure as the latest time for online booking.
Paying and holding a booking
The booking FAQ names credit, debit and prepaid cards with a Visa or Mastercard logo, and says credits or vouchers cannot be used for online purchases. Cards are charged when you press purchase, and the ticket is issued after your bank authorises the payment. If you need time, the airline sells a hold option called Hold My Booking. It reserves the fare for 24 to 72 hours, depending on the time to departure and the fare family. The fee for it is 3 OMR for 24 hours, 5 OMR for 48 hours and 8 OMR for 72 hours, and it is not refundable and not deducted from the ticket price. While a booking is on hold you cannot change dates or names, and taxes can still change the final price. The old booking FAQ says there is no book and hold, so the two pages contradict each other and you should confirm with the airline when you book.
Fare bundles and baggage
Oman Air sells fares as bundles on all flights and destinations. The check-in baggage allowance depends on the bundle:
- Economy Supersaver: no free check-in baggage
- Economy Comfort: 20 kg
- Economy Flex: 30 kg
- Business Comfort: 40 kg
- Business Flex: 50 kg
- Business Studio: 60 kg
Some routes, for example to India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Manila and parts of Africa, have their own economy allowances, so read the baggage FAQ for your route. No single bag may weigh more than 32 kg, and each bag may measure up to 158 cm in total. There is no limit on the number of pieces within your free allowance. Hand baggage is up to 7 kg on all flights. Bundles can be combined with promotional fares, and you earn Sindbad Miles on every bundled fare.
Upgrades inside the same cabin are not possible. Economy Comfort and Economy Flex can be upgraded to Business Comfort, and Business Flex to Business Studio. Supersaver and Business Comfort fares are not valid for upgrades.
Check-in
Online check-in is open from 48 hours down to 90 minutes before departure, on the website and in the app. It does not work when another airline operates the flight, when documents need checking at the airport or when you have special service requests such as a wheelchair. In those cases you check in at the airport counter.
| At a glance | Oman Air |
|---|---|
| Booking window | Up to 330 days, until 2 hours before departure |
| Currency | Country of the first departure airport |
| Hold My Booking | 24, 48 or 72 hours, non-refundable fee |
| Hand baggage | Up to 7 kg |
| Online check-in | 48 hours to 90 minutes before departure |
Using cashback
Open the Oman Air page at daily cashback, where the current rate (0.75%) and the offers we found are listed with the date they were last checked. Press the shop button there, then book and pay as usual. In your free account the cashback shows as open and turns confirmed once the airline has reported the booking. A cancelled or refunded ticket reduces the amount.
Practical tips
- Compare the bundles by baggage, not only by price. Supersaver has no free check-in bag at all.
- Refund and change rules depend on the fare, so check the conditions of your fare before you pay.
- Finish the booking in one visit and pause your ad blocker on the site, or the click may be lost.
