Booking hotels with trip1: crypto payment, cancellation and cashback
trip1 is a hotel booking site that lists more than 2 million properties in 190+ countries and takes payment in cryptocurrency. Nothing is shipped, so the points that matter are different: where you can book, how payment works, what cancellation looks like and what extra charges to expect at the hotel. This guide covers them for travelers in the UK, the US and elsewhere.
Where you can book
According to trip1, you can book hotels worldwide, in 190+ countries, and the hotel does not have to accept crypto itself. The payment provider CoinGate, which trip1 describes as a MiCA-licensed provider based in the EU, converts your payment and the hotel receives local currency. The home page also says no bank card is needed. The site offers hotel collections, events and city guides alongside the search.
How payment works
You search by destination and dates, pick a room and go to checkout. There you choose cryptocurrency as the payment method, pick your coin and network, and scan the QR code or copy the wallet address. Your booking is confirmed once the transaction settles. trip1 accepts Bitcoin, including the Lightning Network, Ethereum, USDC, Litecoin, XRP and 120+ other coins. USDC is available on several networks such as Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism and Base.
trip1 does not add an extra charge for paying with crypto. You do pay the network fee of the blockchain you send on, and an exchange may add its own withdrawal fee, so make sure the full amount shown at checkout arrives. Once you complete the booking, the price is fixed.
Cancellation and refunds
Cancellation rules come from each hotel. A free cancellation rate lets you cancel without penalty until a deadline the hotel sets, usually 24 to 48 hours before check-in, and the exact date and time appear on your confirmation. A non-refundable rate is cheaper but forfeits the full amount if you cancel, although hotels sometimes make exceptions for genuine emergencies.
You cancel from the Manage booking link in your confirmation email or from the My Bookings page. Refunds are sent within 24 to 48 hours and go back to your original wallet. Because the refund is calculated on the booking value, the amount of crypto you get back can differ from what you sent. Most date or name changes require a cancel-and-rebook, and for non-refundable rates you can ask trip1 support to contact the hotel.
Charges at the hotel
Resort fees are a mandatory per-night charge that you pay the hotel directly, and city or tourist taxes are local charges that many hotels collect at the property. A security deposit is a temporary hold that the hotel releases at check-out, usually within 3 to 10 working days. Check your booking details for what applies to your hotel.

Cashback
Open the trip1 page at daily cashback, where the current rate (4%) is shown. Press the shop button and book as usual. The cashback appears in your free account as open and becomes confirmed after trip1 has reported the booking. A cancelled booking is deducted from the cashback. Current discount offers are listed on the same page, and we check them daily. A code from another site can cancel the cashback, so use only the offers shown there.
