Airalo vs Nomad: Which eSIM Suits Your Trip?
Airalo vs Nomad: if you want cashback on your travel eSIM, take Airalo, as only Airalo has a page with us. Nomad is a well-known provider too, but an eSIM bought there brings no cashback from us. Whether Nomad ends up cheaper for your country is something its shop shows per plan, so put the same trip into both. Status October 2026.
Which provider pays cashback
You find Airalo here: Airalo at daily cashback. It lists the current rate and deals. Nomad is not one of our shops, so nothing is paid on top of its price. That does not say anything about the quality of its plans. It only tells you where our cashback applies.
Booking with cashback, step by step
- Begin on the Airalo shop page: ad blocker off, no other voucher or comparison tabs.
- Press the button to Airalo and pick the country, or a regional or global eSIM if you visit several places.
- Choose the package. Look at the data amount and the number of days together.
- Pay in the same session without a code from elsewhere.
- The free account lists your order as pending until the shop has confirmed it.
- Install the eSIM on your phone, ideally on a stable connection before you leave.
What ends the cashback
- You request a refund for the eSIM. The cashback of that order falls away.
- You go to Airalo directly or from a comparison site and skip the shop page.
- Another voucher code replaces the tracking.
- The ad blocker stopped the click.
- You buy at Nomad. That order sits outside our cashback.
The differences in short
Plan logic. At Airalo every package comes with a data amount and a validity period, and data left over after that period cannot be used. Nomad says on its guide page that you should look at coverage, the cost per GB shown before checkout, hotspot support and the refund rules. Use that list for both.
Coverage. Nomad states more than 200 destinations and regional plans for Europe, Asia and the Americas. Airalo lists local, regional and global eSIMs.
Starting the clock. Nomad's installation page explains that installing an eSIM is not the same as activating it, and that in most cases the plan expires from activation. Check your plan details before you install early. Airalo points to the validity period of the package.
Adding data. Airalo lets you top up rechargeable eSIMs from the My eSIMs tab. If the Top up button is missing, the eSIM is not rechargeable and you buy a new one.
Refunds. Airalo has a refund request in your account for eligible eSIMs, where wrong purchase and plans changed are paid as Airmoney and installation problems can go back to the original payment method. What Nomad refunds is shown in its checkout and terms.
Rewards. Airalo pays an Airmoney reward that rises through four levels. Nomad runs a points scheme that you redeem for discounts, extra data or more validity. Neither is our cashback, and each has its own rules.
Before you leave
Whichever you choose, do three things at home. Check in your phone settings that there is an option to add an eSIM. Install the eSIM while you still have wifi. And look at whether the plan starts counting when you install or when you first connect abroad. Nomad's installation page also mentions a free trial eSIM for new users, which can be handy to test your phone before a big purchase.
Write down the order number and keep the email from the provider. If your pending cashback does not show up within a day, you will need it for our team.
Who should pick what
You want cashback: Airalo through the shop page, nothing more to do.
You already have Nomad points: then the points may be worth more to you than our cashback. Compare the final amount with and without points before you decide.
Multi-country trips: look at the regional plans of both and check that every country on your route is listed.
Short city breaks: a small package in either is enough. Make sure the days match your trip, including the day you land.
Our recommendation
Start at the Airalo shop page, then look at Nomad for the same destination and days. If Nomad's final amount is clearly lower for you, that can outweigh the cashback. If it is close, Airalo with cashback is the simpler choice.
