primavolt in Germany: contract length, switching and withdrawal
primavolt is a Berlin-based provider of electricity, gas, DSL and mobile plans. It is a service for customers in Germany: the tariff calculator asks for a German postcode, and the mobile plans refer to German networks. There is nothing to ship, so the points that matter are contract length, switching, payment and how to withdraw or cancel. This guide sums up the shop's own pages for people who live in Germany or are moving there.
What primavolt offers
- Electricity: the calculator needs your annual consumption and postcode, or the number of people in your household if you do not know the consumption.
- Gas: calculated from annual consumption.
- Mobile: plans with a large 5G data allowance, a flat rate for calls into all German networks and unlimited SMS in Germany.
- DSL: internet flat rate up to 100 Mbit/s, a landline flat rate for calls into the German landline network, and a router included without an extra fee.
The calculator also has an optional field for a voucher code.
Contract length
For electricity the shop says every contract runs between 6 and 24 months. All mobile plans have a 24-month term. You compare prices, terms and conditions after entering your data, and pick the tariff that suits your household.
Switching provider
According to the FAQ, you do not need to cancel your old electricity contract yourself: primavolt does it for you, and only for special cancellations might it make sense to act yourself. A switch usually takes a few weeks, depending on your current contract term and notice periods. You will not be left without power; the old and new contracts follow each other seamlessly, and you receive a written notice of the start date beforehand. By law (section 41 of the German Energy Industry Act) the change of supplier is free of charge. For mobile, you decide in the order form whether to keep your number, and primavolt handles the porting and the switch from your old provider.
Payment
You pay by SEPA direct debit, giving your bank details when you order, or by bank transfer. For electricity and gas the monthly instalment is withdrawn automatically. A mobile plan can be paid by transfer too. Meter readings can be sent through the contact form.
Withdrawal and cancellation
You have 14 days from the conclusion of the contract to withdraw without giving a reason. You can do it by letter or email to primavolt GmbH, or online with the withdrawal form on the site. If you asked for electricity or gas to start during the withdrawal period, you pay a reasonable amount for the part already delivered. To cancel a running contract there is a form on the site where you choose between an extraordinary cancellation (for example after a price change, using a special right of termination), cancellation at the end of the minimum term, or at a date you choose after the minimum term.
Contact
Customer service is reachable Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 6 pm, through the service form or by phone on 030 / 209 953 900. The company is primavolt GmbH, Großbeerenstraße 2-10, 12107 Berlin. Most of the site is in German.
Cashback with primavolt
Open the primavolt page at daily cashback, press the shop button and complete your order. The current rate is up to $33.63, and your account first shows the order as open and later as confirmed. If you withdraw from the contract, the cashback for it is deducted. Current offers are on the same page and we check them every day. A code from another source can cost you the cashback, so close other voucher sites while you order.
As of October 2026. Tariffs and terms can change, so check the order summary before you submit.
