Shopping at Papersmiths: UK delivery, click and collect, returns and cashback
Papersmiths is a stationery shop from Brighton with stores in Brighton and Chelsea, London, and an online shop for diaries, notebooks, pens and pencils. The delivery options are clearly split by speed and by region, and the rules for people outside the UK are different from the ones inside it. Here is how it works, taken from the shop's own shipping and returns pages.
UK delivery and free shipping
Standard delivery is Royal Mail Tracked 48, which takes 2 to 3 business days and costs £3.95. It is free when you spend £40, and this applies to the UK mainland, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Scottish Highlands. The shop says it subsidises its shipping costs and does not charge for packaging. Items usually arrive within two working days of dispatch, and Royal Mail sends tracking details.
For urgent orders there is DPD 24 Hour with next business day delivery to the UK mainland. It costs £7.95 and is free over £100. Order before 12pm Monday to Friday and the parcel leaves the same day. Nothing is posted out from Friday 12pm until Monday 9am. If you miss the cut-off, the team will try to help if you call 01273 696769.
Click and collect in Brighton
You can pick an order up for free in the Brighton shop at 21 Sydney Street, BN1 4EN. It is usually ready the same day, you get an email when it is, and collections run from 10am to 6pm every day.
Shipping outside the UK
This is where the rules matter. The shipping page says the shop is currently unable to ship to Europe and lists the EU and the USA as temporarily suspended. For Australia and other international destinations it ships to most locations, and the exact price and timeframe appear in the checkout total. If your country is missing at checkout, write to [email protected]. International customers pay shipping and any customs duties themselves, and the shop suggests checking your country's customs calculator first because the charges can be high. The site shows prices in many currencies.
Returns and refunds
For online orders, email the shop within 14 days of receiving your purchase if you want a refund or an exchange. After approval, post the item back within 14 days with proof of purchase. It must be unused, in the original packaging and in the condition you received it. Return postage is not covered by the shop, so it recommends a tracked and insured service. Personalised items and gift cards cannot be returned. Approved refunds go back to the original payment method within 10 working days, and card refunds can take up to 5 working days to appear. If you received a gift directly from Papersmiths, you can ask for an exchange or an online gift card with the gift receipt.

Using cashback
Go to the Papersmiths page at daily cashback, where you find the current rate (2.5%) and the shop's offers, which we check daily. Press the shop button and order as normal. The cashback appears as open in your free account and becomes confirmed after Papersmiths has reported the order. A returned item reduces the amount, and a voucher code from another site can cost you the cashback.
Practical tips
- A basket at £37 or £38 is cheaper with one extra pen than with the £3.95 delivery fee, as long as you want it.
- For a gift that has to arrive tomorrow, place the order before 12pm on a weekday and choose DPD.
- Living nearby, click and collect saves delivery fees entirely.
