Marley Spoon Germany: delivery area, pausing, cancelling and cashback
Marley Spoon is a meal-kit subscription: you pick dishes, the number of people and meals per week, and a box with ingredients and recipes arrives at your door. The German shop, marleyspoon.de, is run from Berlin by Marley Spoon SE and serves consumers in Germany only. If you live in Germany but read English, this guide sums up what the terms and the home page say about delivery, pausing, cancelling and payment.
Delivery area
The terms state that the offer is aimed at end consumers in Germany, and that the goods are not meant for resale. There is no shipping to other countries from this shop. The box is delivered to the address stored in your customer account, with a delivery day and time window that you choose.
Changing the address and handover
An address change applies to a delivery that is scheduled for the sixth day after the change at the earliest. It can still be made up to 48 hours before the order, but then you can no longer skip the next delivery. You should make sure that someone can accept the box in person. If that is not possible, Marley Spoon may leave it in front of your apartment door, in front of the house door or with a neighbouring household or business. If a delivery fails because nobody could take it, the customer bears the costs and there is no second delivery.
A subscription with no fixed end
Ordering creates a subscription for recurring boxes that runs for an indefinite period. You can change the dishes in your basket, the delivery day and the time window. Single deliveries can be skipped, or all of them paused for a period, up to 6 days before the planned delivery date. Skipping or pausing does not end the contract. Offers with a fixed term or a fixed number of deliveries end by themselves and do not renew.
| Topic | What the terms say |
|---|---|
| Skip or pause | Up to 6 days before the delivery date |
| Cancel | At least 6 days before the delivery from which it should apply |
| Form of notice | Text form, in the customer account or by email |
| Withdrawal | 14 days, with exceptions for perishable goods |
Cancelling and withdrawal
To end the subscription from the next delivery you must cancel at least 6 days before that date. Marley Spoon gives an example: for a Wednesday delivery you have until the end of the Thursday before. You can cancel in the customer account or by email to the support address, and the cancellation must be in text form. Money you already paid for a box that was not delivered is refunded on the agreed delivery date after the notice period.
The legal right to withdraw within 14 days applies to consumers, but it does not exist for goods that spoil quickly or whose expiry date would pass. Fresh food falls under that exception, so rely on pausing or cancelling in time rather than on withdrawal. Where withdrawal does apply, you bear the direct costs of returning the goods.
Payment and prices
You can pay by credit card, PayPal or Google Pay. Your card or account is charged weekly at the end of the week before the delivery, and the amount can change from week to week because of discounts and special offers. At your first order the shop may pre-authorise your card, and when you add or change a payment method a small verification authorisation can be made, with no actual charge. Prices include VAT, and shipping costs are shown separately. Marley Spoon may adjust prices during the term to reflect its own cost changes. Boxes with alcoholic drinks must be accepted by an adult.
Using cashback
Open the Marley Spoon page at daily cashback, where the current rate ($2.8) and the offers we check every day are listed. Press the shop button and sign up as usual. In your free account the cashback shows as open and becomes confirmed once Marley Spoon has reported the order. If a payment is refunded, the cashback for it is deducted.
Practical tips
- Put the cancellation deadline into your calendar on the day you sign up, six days before the delivery you may want to stop.
- Check the skip and pause settings before every weekly deadline.
- Coupons depend on the campaign and are usually meant for new customers, so read the conditions when you redeem one.
