Zinio digital magazines: country sites, subscriptions, cancellation, refunds and cashback
Zinio is a digital newsstand with more than 10,000 magazines. There is no shipping, so the questions that matter are different: which country storefront you use, how a subscription renews, how to cancel and when you get your money back. The answers below come from the Zinio homepage, the Why Zinio page and the Terms of Service.
Where Zinio works
Zinio runs country storefronts, and the homepage lists them: Argentina, Australia, Belgium (also in Dutch), Brazil, Canada, China, Switzerland (also in German), Germany, Denmark, Spain (also in Catalan), Finland, France, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, the Philippines, Portugal, Russia, Sweden, Singapore, Turkey, Taiwan and South Africa, next to the US site. The site shows the language of your location and carries magazines in more than 30 languages across 25 interest categories.
You read on the Zinio apps for iOS and Android, in the browser or in the desktop reader. Magazines can be downloaded and read offline, and the reader has zoom, font size and text to speech.
How buying works
A purchase is delivered to your library instantly, so there is no delivery time. You can buy a single issue or take a subscription. Prices on the site are shown before VAT, GST and sales tax, and the tax is added at checkout based on your billing address. In the Apple and Google apps, pricing follows the app store terms.
| Topic | What the terms say |
|---|---|
| Delivery | Instant to your digital library |
| Renewal | Automatic at the end of the period, unless you cancel |
| Cancellation | Possible at any time |
| Free trial | One per user and subscription |
Subscriptions, renewal and cancellation
Subscriptions need a valid credit card or another accepted payment method. If you do not cancel, you are billed automatically at the end of the period, and Zinio says it will tell you the end date in writing before that, so you can cancel before another charge. The end date is shown in your account settings. If your card has expired at renewal, Zinio may suspend or delete your account. With a free trial you are not billed if you cancel during the trial. With Zinio Unlimited, you lose access to downloaded magazines when you cancel, and you may log in on up to five devices.
Withdrawal and refunds
You may cancel a subscription for any reason within 14 days of its start, as long as no magazine in it has been read. To use that right, write to [email protected].
- Credit card: refund for all unserved issues to the original card. A single copy is refunded only if you cannot download it.
- PayPal: refund for unserved issues to your PayPal account within 60 days of purchase. After 60 days, PayPal sales are final.
- iTunes and Google Play purchases: governed by the store's terms, and Zinio cannot refund them.
The Why Zinio page marks the cancel anytime promise with an asterisk and points to the refund policy in the Terms. Read that part before you pay.
Cashback at Zinio
Open the Zinio page at daily cashback and press the shop button. The current rate is 5%, and the offers listed there are checked daily. Then subscribe or buy through the website, not in the app, so the click is tracked. In your free account the cashback shows as open and becomes confirmed after Zinio has reported the order. A refunded order is deducted again, and a code from another site can cost you the cashback.
