Licence model: pay once or yearly
With Paragon Hard Disk Manager Advanced you have a choice. The licence for 3 computers is perpetual. The 1-year licence covers one computer, and in the first year there is a discount against the regular price. Subscribers get updates and upgrades for the whole term. With the perpetual licence, updates of the version you bought are free, and upgrades cost less than a new purchase.
Acronis True Image comes as a 1-year subscription in three plans: Essentials, Advanced and Premium. A subscription brings updates during the term, support by phone, email and chat, and 24-hour help. How a refund works depends on region and product type, says Acronis.
What the programmes can do
Paragon Hard Disk Manager Advanced bundles partitioning, cloning, migrating the operating system, wiping disks and backup. It supports Windows 10 and 11 and is meant strictly for home use according to Paragon; the PC must not sit in a domain. Windows Server and virtual machines are not covered. You also get a recovery medium to start a broken system, and email notifications.
Acronis leans harder on protection. The maker names ransomware detection, automatic recovery of affected files, cloud backups and virus scans. Essentials brings local backup, cloning and ransomware protection. Advanced adds the cloud with 500 GB and antimalware, Premium offers 1 TB included and can grow to 10 TB. A free 30-day trial applies to several functions, according to Acronis.
Devices and platforms
Depending on the plan Acronis protects up to 5 PCs or Macs and any number of mobile devices, on Windows, macOS, Android and iOS. Paragon Hard Disk Manager Advanced runs on Windows only. For Mac users Paragon has other products, which we do not compare here.

Who suits what
Paragon suits you if you use Windows, want to tidy a disk, move to an SSD or back up a system, and prefer paying once. The licence for three computers also covers family or a second PC, and cashback from us comes on top.
Acronis suits you if you want to back up Mac and Windows together, include phones and store backups in a cloud. Then the yearly subscription with cloud storage makes sense. Cashback through us is not part of that route.
