Ordering from easyname: prices, contract term, cancellation, withdrawal and cashback
easyname is a provider of domains, email, web hosting, a website builder and servers, based in Vienna. Its parent company easyname GmbH says it has been hosting projects from its Vienna data center since 2006. Since nothing is shipped, the points that matter to a buyer are contract length, cancellation, withdrawal, payment and support. The details below come from the easyname website and its terms and conditions, which are written in German.
What easyname offers
The range is split into domains and email, hosting and websites, servers (VPS) and services such as migrating a site. More than 480 domain extensions are available, including .at, .de, .ch, .com, .eu and .org. The shop says its hosting plans run on SSD storage in Austria, come with free Let's Encrypt certificates and take an automatic backup every two hours. The Vienna data center holds an ISO/IEC 27001 certification. If you move from another provider, the shop offers to guide the move of domain, website and email free of charge.
Prices and discount offers
The start page advertises discounts of up to 90 percent. It names domains from 0.89 EUR, email from 1.99 EUR, web hosting from 0.99 EUR and the site builder from 0.49 EUR during the discount period. The footnotes matter: in the examples the discount applies for 3 months, and the price then goes up, for example to 2.99 EUR per month for a mailbox and 7.90 EUR per month for Webhosting Medium. Payment
By default easyname collects charges by direct debit. Other ways such as credit card, PayPal or bank transfer are shown before you complete the contract, where available. Invoices are provided electronically in the customer area, and an extra copy by email costs nothing.
Contract length and cancellation
The term is stated in your offer. A contract renews automatically for the same term if you do not cancel within the stated period. You cancel by email or in the customer center, giving your name, customer number and the contract concerned. Before the term ends easyname is to remind you of the option to cancel. The provider may change prices at the start of a new term with at least six weeks notice.
Withdrawal and refunds
As a consumer you can withdraw within 14 days without giving a reason. If the service has already started, you pay a proportionate amount. Domains and SSL certificates follow a special rule: withdrawal is possible only as long as the domain has not yet been registered successfully. After that no proportionate costs are refunded, because they arise with the registration. If you are unsure about a domain, ask before ordering.
