Hotels.com vs Agoda: Which One Fits You, and Where Is Cashback Paid?
Hotels.com vs Agoda: if cashback matters, take Hotels.com, because it is the only one of the two on our shop list. Prices for the same room move daily on both sites, so judge the amount in the last booking step, not the first number in the results. Status October 2026.
Booking with cashback, step by step
- Create a free account at daily cashback and sign in.
- Open Hotels.com at daily cashback and read the line for your product. Hotel stays, vacation rentals and car rentals each have their own rate.
- Press the cashback button. Hotels.com opens in a new browser window.
- Search, choose the room and complete the reservation in that window, in a single sitting.
- Your booking appears in your account marked as pending.
- Once the stay is over and Hotels.com has confirmed it, the amount becomes payable and can be sent to your PayPal account.
When the cashback does not arrive
- You cancel the stay or do not turn up. Cancelled nights are not counted.
- You change the booking in a way the offer terms treat as a new case, which can affect eligibility.
- Your browser blocks cookies, or an ad blocker is switched on.
- You visit a voucher or discount website between our click and your reservation.
- Hours pass, and you return to Hotels.com through a different tab. Tracking relies on our click shortly before the order.
- You reserve at Agoda. It is not on our list, so nothing can be tracked there.
Hotels.com against Agoda: who suits what
- Hotels.com fits you if you want a payout on the room and expect to travel again. Its One Key scheme counts your stays across Hotels.com and its sister sites: one trip element per room and completed night, Silver at 5 elements in a year, Gold at 15, Platinum at 30.
- One Key is separate from our cashback. Whether a member price and cashback can be added together depends on the offer terms on the shop page.
- Agoda fits you if you would rather pay later or at the hotel, or want to file a best price claim after booking. You earn no cashback from us there.
- Agoda states in its terms that promo codes normally cannot be combined with its VIP programme, and that its booking fee, which can appear as a convenience fee, is non-refundable.
- Choosing a different charge currency than the offer's own can make Agoda add up to 5 % on top of the exchange rate, so check that in the last step.
What the rate is calculated on
Take a room whose displayed total is made up of the room price, taxes and a resort fee. The shop page of Hotels.com bases the payout on the value of the completed booking and leaves out taxes, local tourist levies, resort fees and cancelled stays. So only the room part earns anything. If you book three nights and cancel one before arrival, the base shrinks to the nights you actually stay.

The rate itself is not fixed. It differs between hotel stays, vacation rentals and car rentals, and it can change, which is why we point to the shop page instead of quoting a number here.
Because the base excludes fees, two rooms with the same total can pay out differently. The one with the larger resort fee gives you less. When you compare, ask which part of the price is the room itself.
The same thinking helps when you weigh Agoda against Hotels.com. Agoda adds its own fee to flights and stays, and this is where the total can drift from the room price. A lower first price means little until you have seen what the last step adds.
