CuriosityStream: plans, billing, cancelling and cashback
CuriosityStream is a subscription service for documentaries, from nature and space to history, science, technology, travel and true crime. It is ad-free and runs on phone, tablet, web and TV. Nothing is shipped, so the questions that matter are different from an online shop: which plan fits, how billing works, how you cancel and what happens if you are outside the United States.
Plans and bundles
The sign-up page offers a Standard plan with the full CuriosityStream library and a Smart Bundle that adds Tastemade Cooking, Kidstream, Curiosity University and SOMM TV in one subscription. Each comes monthly or annually. The shop notes that bundle availability varies by country and that content partners can change. A paid subscription from the main site usually does not include Curiosity University content, so read the terms of the offer you pick. You create an account first and review the order before you are charged.
| Point | What the site says |
|---|---|
| Library | Thousands of documentaries and series, ad-free |
| Devices | Phone, tablet, web and TV |
| Billing | Monthly or annually, automatic renewal |
| Currency | All fees are charged in US dollars |
| Contract | No contract, cancel in a click |
Billing and currency
By subscribing you allow the company to charge your card or other account on a recurring basis, plus applicable tax. According to the terms, all fees are charged in US dollars, so if you live in Europe or the UK ask your bank how it treats payments in dollars. The fee is billed at the start of each subscription period, or when a free trial ends, if one is offered. The terms say prices can change, and a change takes effect at the start of the next period after you have been told.
Free trials
When a free trial is available, its terms appear on the page that advertises it. A trial turns into a paid subscription automatically unless you cancel within the trial period, and the card is then charged. Set a reminder for the last day.
Cancelling and refunds
You can cancel at any time in your account on the website or by emailing [email protected], without fee or penalty. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period, and you keep access until then. The terms add that you do not receive a refund for the rest of the period unless stated otherwise at cancellation. The terms also contain a section for EU users, which confirms that you can end your use at any moment.
Support and gifts
The Help Center is linked from the footer, and the footer also offers gift cards and corporate subscriptions. Questions about an order or a plan go to [email protected].
Cashback at CuriosityStream
The CuriosityStream page at daily cashback shows the current rate ($5) and the offers with the date of the last check. Press the shop button, then sign up as usual. In your free account the cashback is first open and becomes confirmed once CuriosityStream has reported the order. If the subscription is cancelled and refunded, the amount for it is deducted.
Practical tips
- Pick the plan on the page you reach through our button, so the sale is tracked from the first click.
- Cancel before the next period starts if you only want one season of viewing, because renewal is automatic.
- Finish in one visit and pause your ad blocker, so the click is not lost.
